Sloppy Joe with #Blue Apron

What is a sloppy joe?

i’ve always wondered what a Sloppy Joe really was and only found out in week 3 with #BlueApron.

For those unfamiliar with the term, let me explain

A sloppy joe is a sandwich consisting of ground beef, onions, tomato sauce or ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and other seasonings, served on a hamburger bun. The dish originated in the United States during the early 20th century. Wikipedia

I eagerly assembled the ingredients that were provided image

and washed the beans and tomato

I proceeded to cook the minced beef as given in the recipe and soon I had a pot of meat sauce bubbling away in the pan

Within minutes I lightly browned the halved potato buns . I slopped the meat sauce , topped it off with the pickled gherkin ( they called them pickled chips) and assembled the burger before serving it with the bean and tomato salad. image for Sloppy Joe

Well the bean and tomato salad was nothing to write home about and frankly far too sour for me but the Sloppy Joes?

They were yum .

This recipe is quite easy to make even if one had to start with getting the ingredients but if you can get them from #BlueApron why not?

Would you like to know the recipe for this classic American comfort food?
